Historical Review
The School of Media Alternative (2011) is an initiative of the Director and Founder of Las Perlas del Mar Productions Inc. Alex Flores.
Our education program provides and opportunity for women and men of the Spanish-speaking community living in Toronto to explore a career within the arts and cultural sector and video production.
The School of Media Alternative aims to help the development and exploration of individuals through various art forms as a communicative element of long-range; it offers the opportunity to motivate the students to express themselves visually and to encourage future initiatives in the production of film and video art work as well as an opportunity to express themselves as Latin Canadians
In this space we offer an Educational program that exists outside the traditional education system where the program compliments their sociological and economic experiences, giving a safe and supportive environment for creative exploration through video film, script writing, photography and visual arts.
We want the Latin American artist community aware that they can represent themselves and keep growing artistically, Using the medium as a way of expression, auto reflection, and creation to success in the Canadian art culture.

Las Perlas TV is our Magazine online video platform where our students get the opportunity to produced and to put in practice their new knowledge and skills, creating to deliver an original ideas to show to our community.
Through Las Perlas TV Programs and under the Artistic directions, students are part of the creation of professional Spanish & English multi-media production organization focusing on local and cultural news, editorials, stories and commentaries, as well as presenting different perspectives reflecting the heart of the Latin American community in Toronto and Canada to the world.
Also Las Perlas TV is providing internships and volunteer experiences, and serving as an advocate for our latin American arts community.
COMMUNITY:
We believe that art empowers our community in the educational, social, and economic way.
We collaborative and constructive dialogue between other groups and individuals who are part of our community.
And last but no least, Las perlas del mar Productions create an environment of,. non-judgmental, and access for everyone regardless of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, economic situation and we respect and dignity all our relations.

La Escuela de Media Alternativa de las Perlas del Mar, busca ayudar al desarrollo y exploración del individuo a través de diferentes manifestaciones artísticas como un elemento comunicativo de largo alcance y que ofrece la oportunidad de comunicar de una manera más tangible, honesta y humana las vivencias personales y colectivas de diferentes grupos etno-culturales con el fin de tocar la sensibilidad de la audiencia basada en lo que las integrantes de los talleres quieren transmitir. En este espacio se quiere dar mayor importancia al individuo inmigrante desde sus realidades migratorias; saber qué piensan, qué sienten, quiénes son para así incentivar y promover el cambio social en las comunidades locales a las cuales pertenecen a través de diferentes expresiones artísticas como extensiones propias del cuerpo y/o el alma.

Reseña Histórica
La Escuela de Media Alternativa nace como iniciativa de la Directora y co-fundadora de Las Perlas del Mar Productions INC., Alex Flores, para brindar la oportunidad a mujeres y hombres de la comunidad hispanohablante, viviendo en Toronto, de producir videos así como la distribución de éstos en la media social con el fin de dar a conocer las diferentes perspectivas que estas mujeres llevan consigo y desean compartir con los demás.
